Attention Members:
We have two safety alerts to make you aware of.
Alert 1:
We had a member alert us that a male is calling female agents stating he lives in the Orlando area and needs a Realtor® to show him properties. He is adamant about meeting in person first. The member originally had an appointment to meet this man in a public setting and cancelled as she had a uneasy feeling and things didn't add up (uncooperative in providing important information) . This man then proceeded to text and call at all hours of the night (midnight and on). He has since contacted several other female agents with the same demeanor. The police are being notified of the situation.
This is a good time to remind you that your personal safety needs to be a priority.
Alert 2:
Text and Email Scam. We had a brokerage alert us of a new type of text & email scam that their agents started to receive. With this new text/email scam the person or "bot" is sending the following messages:
Message 1:
Someone you call your FRIEND wants you DEAD by all means, and the person have spent a lot of money on this, the person provided us your NAMES, PHOTOGRAPHS and other necessary INFORMATION we needed about you.
Message 2:
Meanwhile, I have sent my MEN to TRACK you down and they have carried out the necessary INVESTIGATION needed for the operation, but I ordered them to stop for a while and not to strike immediately because I just felt something good and sympathetic about you. I decided to contact you first and know why somebody will want you DEAD by all means. Right now my MEN are MONITORING you, their eyes are on you, and even the place you think is safer for you to hide might not be.
Message 3:
Now do you want to LIVE OR DIE? It is up to you. Get back to me now if you are ready to enter DEAL with me, I mean LIFE TRADE, and I might just spear your life, IF YOU COOPERATE WITH ME.
It is our understanding this is a new scam to receive responses back and possibly extort money and/or data. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Melbourne Police Department have been notified.
We encourage all of our members to exercise caution and be very careful while working in the field. Members can visit this link to learn how to plan their safety strategies.
