Space Coast REALTORS® Show Pride in Their Communities by Cleaning Florida's Waterways
Palm Shores, Florida August 7, 2026: Nearly 70 volunteers with the Space Coast Association of REALTORS® rolled up their sleeves on July 24 to help protect one of Brevard County's greatest assets, its environment- by removing a yard dumpster (an estimated 48 large trash bags *1800 pounds) of litter and debris from the SR 528 Beachline corridor during the Association's annual Waterway Clean-Up.
Organized by the Association's Young Professionals Network (YPN), the annual cleanup reflects the REALTOR® commitment to strengthening the communities they serve. By helping prevent trash from entering local waterways and the Indian River Lagoon, volunteers contributed to protecting wildlife, improving water quality, and preserving the natural beauty that defines Florida's Space Coast.
"REALTORS® do much more than help people buy and sell homes," said Jackie Griffin, 2026 President of the Space Coast Association of REALTORS®. "We are neighbors, volunteers, and community advocates who care deeply about the places where we live and work. When our members come together to protect our environment, they're investing in the long-term health and quality of life of the communities we proudly serve."
The annual Waterway Clean-Up brings together REALTORS®, Business Partners, friends, and family members for a morning of service, reinforcing the Association's belief that vibrant communities are built through volunteerism and civic engagement. Participants worked for several hours in the summer heat collecting roadside litter before it could enter nearby waterways and impact local ecosystems.
Volunteers received commemorative Space Coast Association of REALTORS® UV shirts in recognition of their service. Following the cleanup, participants gathered at a local restaurant to enjoy refreshments and celebrate a successful day of giving back while strengthening the relationships that unite the REALTOR® community.
The Waterway Clean-Up is one of many community outreach initiatives supported by the Space Coast Association of REALTORS®, demonstrating that the organization's mission extends well beyond real estate transactions. Through environmental stewardship, charitable projects, and local volunteer efforts, Space Coast REALTORS® remain committed to enhancing the quality of life throughout Brevard County.
The Space Coast Association of REALTORS® extends its sincere appreciation to every volunteer who dedicated their time and energy to this year's cleanup. Their collective efforts serve as a reminder that protecting the Space Coast is a shared responsibility, and one that begins with community members willing to make a difference.
