The Space Coast Association of REALTORS® is deeply saddened to share the passing of longtime REALTOR® and broker, James "Jim" Walker Bagwell, who passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 77.
Jim dedicated nearly two decades to serving the Brevard County real estate community as a trusted REALTOR®, broker, and co-owner of Walker Bagwell Properties and WBP Management in Cocoa Beach. Throughout his career, he built a reputation for honesty, professionalism, and unwavering integrity, guiding countless families through one of life's most important milestones. His commitment to ethical business practices and genuine care for his customers earned the respect and admiration of clients and colleagues alike.
Before beginning his successful real estate career, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired after a distinguished 32-year career with Southern Bell and BellSouth. His dedication to service continued throughout his life, both professionally and personally.
Beyond real estate, Jim was devoted to his family and community. He generously coached youth baseball and soccer for many years, mentoring young athletes and leaving a lasting impact on generations of local families. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but for his quiet leadership, steadfast character, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met.
Jim was preceded in death by his sons, Ryan Daniel Bagwell and Shawn Walker Bagwell, and his sister, Betty Garrett. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ada Long Bagwell; his son, William Jason Bagwell and partner Ashlyn Hartnett; his sister, Sondra Thibideau and husband Ray; and his cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Bronté, Lilyana, and Madelyn.
Jim's legacy of professionalism, integrity, and service will continue to inspire the real estate community and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
