In this course on FIRPTA (Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act) you will learn the obligations for the buyer and seller in a real estate transaction. FIRPTA presumes that all sellers are foreigners unless proven otherwise. We will look at the FR/Bar contract language and discuss when a buyer must withhold and when an exemption applies. We will highlight some common pitfalls to ensure that you are well prepared when engaging in a real estate transaction involving a foreign seller.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
