Expanding Housing Opportunities (4CE) – You have chosen to participate in a movement that is reshaping homeownership in America. The ability to purchase affordable housing is a critical stumbling block for families who want to share in the American Dream.  Homeownership represents the single most critical step in wealth creation. For individuals and their families, it all starts with the ability to purchase an affordable home. And that’s where you come in.

Objectives: After taking this class students will be able to:
• Identify your role in affordable housing.  • Describe affordable housing and housing opportunities.  • Explain how demographic changes impact affordable housing and housing opportunities.

  • List special considerations for first-time homebuyers. • Identify the benefits of working with housing counselors. • Explain where to locate down payment and closing cost assistance.  • Describe qualifying guidelines for convention and government loans.  • Explain how housing opportunities can be increased in your community.  • Identify opportunities for local advocacy.  • Locate resources online and in your local community to educate yourself and   your client on affordable housing.
