Get involved in the new home market! This course will explore residential construction from the foundation up, filling Realtor’s® tool boxes with all the instruments needed to get out there and get active in residential construction! Students will become familiar with basic elements of architectural plans, contract documents, construction terminology, and construction drawings. Participants will also be prepared to answer questions when buyers prefer to come to them rather than go to the builder or the lender. For the Realtor® who wants to remain the most trusted source of information for their new construction customer, this is the course to build their skills! Objectives: At course completion, students will be able to: Name the primary construction documents and describe the purpose of each, describe the difference in architectural scale and engineer scale, convert measurements from feet and inches to tenths and hundredths, name the basic components of a set of construction drawings, identify the major structural components of a single-family structure, and explain the purpose of contract specifications and allowances.
