Florida voters have an opportunity this November to provide meaningful property tax relief for homeowners and greater predictability for rental and commercial property owners.
Florida REALTORS® supports Amendment 3 and encourages members to vote YES in the November 3 General Election.
Amendment 3 would:
- Increase the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028, with annual inflation adjustments beginning in 2029.
- Lower the annual assessment growth cap on non-homestead properties—including rentals, second homes and commercial properties—from 10% to 5%.
- Protect school funding, as the increased homestead exemption applies only to non-school property taxes.
The cost of homeownership does not end at the closing table. Rising property taxes, insurance premiums and everyday expenses continue to place pressure on Florida families. Amendment 3 would help homeowners remain in their homes while providing greater stability for property owners, renters and businesses.
